Leading Nigerian oil and gas sector player Forte, did not
make the list of the 2017/18 NNPC Crude oil term lifting contracts.
Companies like Oando, Sahara Energy, MRS and Eterna Oil
made the list of 39 corporations, that will play in the sector in 2017.
According to the State Oil Corporation, the Nigerian
National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), the 39 emerged out of the 224 that
bidder for the contracts.
From the list 18 Nigerian companies, 5 refineries, 11
International traders, 3 government-to-government and 2 NNPC trading companies,
were selected.
The NNPC said this is in line with its focus on
transparency and accountability, as a critical government corporation.
This aligns with the reforms and recent 7 Big wins policy
framework launched by President Muhammadu Buhari last year.
While analysts, commentators and stakeholders
have been discussing the recent development, the absence of Forte Oil remains a
big surprise.
