Ifako-Ijaiye Local Government Area in Lagos, Nigeria

Iju, also known as Iju Ishaga, is one of the popular neighbourhoods under the Ifako-Ijaiye Local Government Area in Lagos, Nigeria. In 1996, the local government was created alongside 183 local government areas in the country. The creation of the local government areas was during the military regime of General Sanni Abacha.

The local government consists of Ogba-Ijaiye, Ifako, Obawole, Oke-Ira, Iju-Ogunimu, Fagba, Agege Pen Cinema, Iju Ishaga which are the major places in the LGA. Ifako-Ijaye is a popular place in Lagos which shares boundaries with Ogun state. According to the 2006 Census, the population of Ifako-Ijaye is over four hundred thousand people.

Throw Out Anti Social Media Bill, ADP Tells National Assembly

The Action Democratic Party (ADP), has called on both the lower and upper chambers of the National Assembly, to reject and throw out any bill, aimed at gagging the freedom of speech of the citizens. 

ADP said it was not in the best interest of Nigerians, that the minister for information and culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, was calling for the regulation of the social media. We wont fold our arms and watch Nigeria descend into a state of totalitarian or despotism. 

The party, faulted the promoter of the bill on the floor of the Senate, that it is an anti-peolle bill, which will not end well. If the government officials are clean and have nothing to hide, they should not be afraid of the social media. 

It is even more absurd, that a Senator, who was voted in by the people, can stand up on the floor of the Senate, to propose death by hanging for citizens, for expressing themselves, which the government sees as hate speeches. 

In a statement issued by the National Publicity Secretary of the party, Prince Adelaja Adeoye in Abuja on Tuesday, he warned that if care is not taking, some overzealous Senators will drive Nigeria into chaotic situations, in their bid to impress the President at all cost, without minding the implications of doing so, because, such move, may lead to citizens rejection and protest against anti-people's bills, such as social media regulation. 

The National Assembly, as an arm of the government, must not project itself as a rubber stamp to the executive, where every bill is passed without considering the far reaching effects on the citizens. 

ADP noted that, freedom of speech, includes how people express themselves on the social media, which is enshrined in the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Nigeria still operates constitutional democracy, which allows people the freedom to be themselves, without any hindrance from their elected leaders.

Chapter two, section 13-24 of the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Fundamental Objectives and Directive Principles of State Policy and chapter four, section 38 quoted  "Every person shall be entitled to freedom of thought and conscience.

In as much as we don't want social media platforms to be regulated, we also urge our citizens to verify the kinds of information they will be putting out, to ensure that, they are not injurious, libellous or can cause threat to the life of another person. 

ADP urged the Federal government to face the business of governance, which is the main reasons they were elected, stressed further that, bill to regulate social media platforms will be counter productive in the end. 

The Federal government should start the sanitation from its members of aides, who deliberately put out fake information, in their bid to hoodwink citizens. There are occasions, where aides deliberately put out pictures and videos of non-existed projects, in order to promote their principals, this is also a negative use of social media. 

ADP urge both the executive and legislative arm to drop the proposal to regulate social media, because it will expose citizens to incessant attack, arrest and undue detention by the power mongers, who will abuse the process.

Do you have a hangover out of a drink out with friends the previous night? Just have some charcoal with you & chew on it. To make it more effective, make a nice solution out of it & drink. You’re good to go.

Things Atiku Must Do to Win the 2019 Presidential Elections

Beloved Comrades,
It has become imperative to emphasize the need for us to be proactive as a party. 

While elections are just right ahead, we seem not to be showing signs of readiness or so it seems.

On good authority, our leader Stimulated Abubakar will be coming to the South West on Wednesday 28 December and we appear not to be doing what is needful to herald his visit. 

The South West is the Second strongest voting zone in the country, particularly Lagos. 

14 million is no joke and we must develop needed strategies. Question is, where is the mobilization for the foot soldiers?

Where are the souvenirs for those who will take the Atiku message around. 

The billboards are gradually getting covered by the Buhari/Osinbajo team, even as APC still went around the media this past week and I am wondering what the strategy is from the National. 

Permit me to say, that there should have been projections leading to his coming, where social media and foot soldiers would have done half the job of publicity. 

The leadership is hereby called upon to chart a needful course so that what we aspire to achieve wont become futile. I don't want to remind us of the mistake we made in 2015 as it may be heading where it must not. 

Groups are already constituted, ready and willing to work. Where is the coordination, the mobilization, the souvenirs, the direction, the charge, the commitment and needed wherewithal?

I have decided to raise this as a matter of concern because delivery on our terms of reference is not a problem... God bless Atikulated Agenda 2019 nationwide and God bless Nigeria.

Kidney cancer: Expert cautions smokers, drug addicts on dangers

Dr Ovo Samuel, a medical officer at the General Hospital Ughelli in Edo State, says smokers are liable to develop kidney cancer at age 40 and above.

Ovo, who disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday in Benin, said cigarette smoking damaged the kidney and lungs.

He said some of the possible symptoms of kidney cancer were blood in urine, lump in the side or abdomen, loss of appetite, pain in the side that never subsides, weight loss and fever that lasts for weeks.

The physician also said extreme fatigue, anaemia, swellings in the ankles or legs, shortness of breath, coughing of blood and bone pain were also symptoms of cancer.

He said the ailment developed gradually from the body, presenting simple symptoms and graduating to complications if not treated promptly.

“The most common symptom of kidney cancer is a tumour in the kidney near a lymph node,” he said.

He, however, warned of illicit drug intake and alcohol consumption, saying both habits endangered the kidney.

“Nigeria Needs A Fresh Start”

Being a full text of the Acceptance Speech of Engineer Yusuf Sani Yabagi, after he was elected the Presidential candidate of the Action Democratic Party (ADP) on Sunday October 7

Dear country men and women, let me thank the Almighty Allah for this wonderful opportunity and to all of you members of our great party for electing me as the presidential candidate of our great party at this momentous occasion.

I understand the enormity of the responsibility that has been placed on my shoulders and the onerous tasks it entails especially now that our dear country is in dire straits. Obviously Nigeria needs a fresh start and a new dimension of leadership that is focused, proactive and determined to restore the nation’s dignity through effective, courageous and intelligent leadership.

Dear country men and women, the Nigerian state in the last 58 years of its existence, has been battered by successive years of poor, visionless, corrupt and reckless leadership that turned a potentially rich country into pauper such that the Brookings Institute and other renowned world agencies have produced statistics, which declared Nigeria as the country with the most extreme poor people, in other words, Nigeria is now officially the poverty capital of the world.

The situation becomes even more disturbing because Nigeria just exited recession but according to the Central Bank of Nigeria the country could still fall back into another recession if some necessary steps are not taken to forestall such dangerous development. 87 million of our citizens are said to be wallowing in the extreme poverty category and a second recession will spell doom for the country.

It pains me greatly that Nigeria, country richly blessed with people and brains is stuck in the backwaters of economic malaise and political instability because of the unimaginative policies our leaders have pursued which are basically predicated on satisfying narrow political interests. Nigeria’s GDP is at 1.5% in the second quarter GDP growth in 2018, for a country of 198 million people with a population growth of 2.61 per cent according to the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS).

Nigeria’s economy is heavily dependent on oil but the most embarrassing aspect is that the leaders have created a very disgusting system where crude oil is exported and refined products are imported into the country under a subsidy system that is brimming with unquantifiable level of corruption. The Nigerian economy has remained largely unproductive in virtually all sectors and the situation has worsened in the last three years of the government of the All Progressives Congress (APC) led by President Muhammadu Buhari.

Global development agencies have established that Nigeria has about 12 million out of school  children and the situation could get worse if urgent steps are not taking to reverse this despicable trend. Inflation is still at double digit of 11.14% and between 7 and 10 million people are reported to have lost their jobs in the last three years, Foreign Direct Investments have drastically reduced and the Nigeria’s currency, the naira has lost nearly 60% of its value because the current leadership has failed to do proper planning on how to diversify a troubled economy. This deluge of woes can only be the product of Ill- motivated ambitions, sheer selfishness and corruption of leadership in Nigeria today.

These crises in our economy have already begun to produce their concomitant vices as employment has driven many hopeless young people into violent crimes such as armed robbery, ritual killings, violence during elections, car snatching, advanced fee fraud, drug abuse among others. Many of our young people have perished in the deserts of North Africa and the Mediterranean trying to flee the harsh conditions at home in search of greener pastures outside the shores of Nigeria.

Dear country men and women, it is not my intention to bore you with a long speech about our problems but it is pertinent to interrogate our situation in order to find the appropriate solutions to them. I therefore stand before you to offer hope for a new beginning which our party the ADP represents.

The experience I have gathered over the years, serving  humanity  in my little capacity,  has imbued me with the steadfastness, vision, discipline and foresight which I intend to bring to if I am given  the chance to become your president in 2019.  The international community has recognized my efforts and crowned it with an award of humanitarian service for the development of Africa’s economy conferred on me by the United Nations on September 13.

My vision is to transform the economy through massive investment in agriculture, industry manufacturing, and food processing by the establishment of cottage industries across the 774 local governments in the country tp provide jobs for the unemployed.  This is the only way the country can change and the issue of insecurity ravaging parts of country can be easily curtailed.

So, let’s work together to make Nigeria great again.
